1. Martabak Manis and Martabak Telur
Martabak Manis is a kind of pancake. It is made of dough. Martabak Manis is spread with peanut and margarine. There are variation of topping like chocolate, cheese, peanut butter and milk. After that the pancake is folded so the topping is inside the fold.
Martabak telur is little bit different. It is thin dough filled with ground beef, and duck’s egg with leek. While the dough is being fried in a large frying pan, the ground beef, leek, and duck’s eggs is placed in it. Then, the dough is folded.
Martabak sellers are easy to find all over Jakarta area. They usually open their counters from 4 pm to midnight. The price starts from Rp 15000 to 50000.
2. Kerak Telur
You can find Kerak Telur only in Jakarta. Jakarta ‘s original tribe is Betawi. Kerak telor (English: Egg crust) is a Betawi traditional spicy omelet dish in Indonesian cuisine. It is made from glutinous rice cooked with egg and served with serundeng (fried shredded coconut), fried shallots and dried shrimp as topping. It is considered as a snack and not as a main dish.
3. Nasi Goreng
Nasi goreng or fried rice is stir – fried steamed rice with special ingredients like shallot, garlic, pepper, shrimp paste and chili. Fried rice is usually mixed with chicken meat, and eggs, and sometimes sausages, meatballs, lamb. The taste of fried rice is spicy and hot. Nasi Goreng is usually served with sour carrot and cucumber salad.
4. Sate Madura
You can find Sate Madura easily. Sate Madura is a kind of grilled lamb or chicken. Sate Madura is best with peanut sauce. It is served with lontong (long Toughened steamed rice ).
5. Nasi Uduk Pecel Lele
It is a traditional fast food in Jakarta. It is steamed rice cooked with coconut milk served with fried cat fish and chili and tomato sauce ( Sambal cabe dan tomat). This is the simplest dishes at night in Jakarta. There are thousand stalls all over Jakarta. The price starts from Rp 10.000 to 25.0000 per portion.
6. Bubur Ayam
Bubur Ayam is porridge made of rice. The porridge is served with chicken curry. You can also enjoy boiled quail eggs put in skewer and kerupuk ( crisips).
7. Mie Bakso
Mie Bakso is made of meatball. The meat ball is from beef mixed with sagu flour. Meatballs is serve in a bowl with white noodle , sprouts, and fried shallots. You can also add chili and tomato sauce or soybean sauce.
8. Ketoprak
You can find ketoprak only in Jakarta. Ketoprak is a vegetarian dish from Jakarta, Indonesia, consists of tofu, vegetables and rice cake (Lontong), rice vermicelli served in peanut sauce. The taste is spicy. There are many ketoprak stalls you can find. The price starts from Rp 9000 to 15000 per portion.
